002 TANKA | GET READY WITH ME

This past week I wanted to create another ‘Get Ready With Me’ and thought it would be more exciting to show you what an up-cycle process looks like.
Purple is my favorite colors, and I rarely experiment with color on my eyes. I went for it, keeping gradients in mind when picking colors and choosing where I was applying the shadow. I was very happy with the final results, and gave a gradient look to my lips as a compliment.
Typically when I up-cycle a look, I don’t have the pressure of time ticking. The idea of making an outfit instead of styling an outfit was spontaneous! I had a few hours before sunset to get it going, and get it together. I decided to freestyle the whole thing. No sketches, no ideas, no patterns. I was working the details out through the process. Somehow, I turned my lace dress and a pair of old white dress pants into a mini skirt, tube top and sleeves…

With sunset already happening, I wasn’t confident in where to shoot this look. So, in front of the garage it was! After a few photos, we tried to capture me in Collis’s car and those came out amazing! I considered shooting some photos indoors but it didn’t seem like it would match the look well. This was a lot of energy from sewing to final photos, but nonetheless satisfying to bring a vision to life!
And for the next one, well I better get to working now.
