Sup, I'm DEVVN. A country boy, born and raised in Virginia, I hit the open road at 19 to find myself in Los Angeles, CA. I’m currently 25 years old and living my best life—let freedom ring I guess haha.
I remember the first time I felt free.
I had just finished a 3 day road trip (nearly nonstop) from VA -> LA. After unpacking all my things at university, it was time for my pops and me to part ways. I drove him to Union Station, sent him on the train, and drove off, pulling over almost immediately to the side of the road to let it POUR. I cried for what felt like an eternity. Happy tears. Sad tears. The type of tears that fall on a fresh, crisp page after you turn it. It was the beginning of a bold new chapter for me—one where the only truth that mattered was mine. For the first time in my life, I was free to be me. Free to run, cry, feel, laugh, and love. Free to explore myself and my world. It was overwhelming to say the least.
It's been a rewarding 5 years. I finally feel like I'm becoming. It's exciting, watching yourself become. Piece by piece, brick by boring brick. It's taken time, but I don't mind. After all, time is all we have. By this time next year, I want to have an EP out, complete with visuals and a tribe behind me to thank. For now, I have a song titled ZULI that’s out now! I make a lot of music like that, actually. Music that reminds me to choose happiness.
